“ Painting has got ahead of other arts…modern art has left the walls, tapestries, and decorative urns to enclose itself within a frame, nourished, filled with facts, free from figuration that distracts , it lands itself to meditation.“ Le Corbusier, «Vers une architecture»

«Art &signatures» contemporary art magazine offers a review of «Art Geneve» art fair , February 2025.

«Art Geneve 2025» art fair has brought together 81 Swiss and international galleries and their collections of modern art, contemporary art and the art in the age of AI. Emerging AI may be seen by many as a shadow over creative industries, capable of replacing artist’s works, but marketing strategies and “ the product mixes “ of galleries, that participated in 13th edition of Art Geneve hasn’t been changed, same focus on paintings «of long term demand» : P. Picasso, J. Miro, Nikolas de Stael, Sean Scully.
Marketing begins and ends with customer , selling designs of artificial neural networks can fall in the middle of a V- shaped curve relating market share and price, as all customers travel to see oil on canvas art exhibitions, wait in lines to enter fine art museums, read articles and subscribe to newsletters of art magazines.

Why? Artists use many techniques, such as making objects of art «unfamiliar» to the viewer. Formalist Shklovsky stated that art, poetry «makes forms difficult.. removes objects from the automatism of perception» (Viktor Shklovsky “Искусство как прием») , in fact, On Kawara’s 1970s conceptualists postcards «I Got Up» at Larkin Erdman gallery’s stand seemed very «foreign». On Kawara

stamped «I Got Up at..» truthful message on postcards and send them to various addresses of his contacts from the art world in 1970s. Conceptualists of 1960- 70s believed that traditional and visually meaningless image can not be the goal of creativity, art is a concept, a message. The effect occurs when creating, analysing and receiving the message, which is transmitted in a conventional or non-trivial way.

Surrealism is always in the centre of attention of the public and collectors. Ability to create psychologically charged visual fields is its way. Graphics of J. Miro that were on display at Bailly gallery stand ( 1938 «Le Numero de music -hall») features sounds, background noises, memories, poetic images from unconsciousness,

In the eclectic structure of 17 th Art Geneve I also chose Realism in Swiss painting, e g Edouard Kaiser, «Polisseuses et Guillocheurb», 1896, presented by non-profit MBAL Foundation.
